Elevating your spiritual intelligence.

Alishah Savage

Spirituality has become increasingly popular these days and many are looking for ways they can improve their spiritual intelligence. According to Prof. Olga Louchakova, the definition of spiritual intelligence is-

Expansion of the state of consciousness, or the ability to remain focused, be stimulated and motivated by goals, think analytically, forgive and tolerate, accept contradictory or abnormal experiences, and achieve pure realization, deep insight, increasing empathy, better concentration, and greater understanding.

Spiritual intelligence can improve all aspects of your life; from your career to relationships. To start making an effort to improve your spiritual intelligence, you can simply become more spiritually in tune. Dedicate some time to studying scriptures of your religion or learning new spiritual practices in order to increase knowledge of your faith. We are our own best spiritual teachers and it's our responsibility to reach out to ourselves with compassion when we fail or need some inspiration along our journey. Embracing your own values and belief system is always important.

No matter what your beliefs may be, prayers and/or reciting mantras are very significant in life. Instead of only remembering to connect with your higher power or self when something is going wrong, make it a regular habit. Journaling your feelings using mindfulness is a great way to get to know ourselves better. Reflecting on our reactions to things in life can teach you a lot about one's self. Another mindful practice you can use for spiritually elevating yourself is meditation. Being able to quiet the mind is a serious flex to have. That alone will improve focus and also have you more in control of your mood and thought process and be a huge way to elevate one's spiritual intelligence!
