New York State has 180 state parks! It's one of just 11 states that has more than 100 state parks. So we're fortunate to have a ton to explore right here in NY.

The most visited state parks in NY might surprise you. Here's a list and a few features of each that might encourage you to go check them out yourself!

Niagara Falls State Park comes in at #1 most visited with 9.4 million visits in 2022.

This is actually America's oldest state park! It's open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. Each season brings different joys to visiting this area. From amazing hiking to award-winning wineries, there's always something to do nearby, too. Plus this park is right on the border of Canada, so you could easily hop to another country and explore there for the day too!

Jones Beach State Park comes in at #2 most visited with 8.5 million visits in 2022.

This park features 6.5 miles of beachfront property right on the Atlantic Ocean. There's a boardwalk to stroll along and many restaurants and concession stands nearby. Plus, there are miniature golf, shuffleboard, basketball, tennis, cornhole, and pickleball areas to enjoy too.

Saratoga Spa State Park comes in at #3 most visited with 3.5 million visits in 2022.

This park truly has everything you could possibly want. From a performing arts perspective, there's a theater and museum of dance. There's also an automobile museum. But if you're looking to spend more time outdoors, there's a large pool, two golf courses, and certified running courses used by all levels of athletes.
