Enjoying uncommon food pairings is something people commonly associate with pregnancy. But the truth is, you don't need to be pregnant to have food you adore that might make other people cringe.

U/wildwoodflower_ asked Reddit users what their favorite random food combo is that other people find weird. Thousands of people are weighing in.

Fries Dipped in Gravy

One of the top comments mentions dipping fries in gravy. While this might sound like a new concept to some, combining fries and gravy is completely normal in certain places, like Canada. One of their most well-known dishes—poutine, combines fries, gravy, and cheese curds.

Peanut Butter And...

Several comments involve mixing peanut butter with some out-of-the-box foods. One enjoys peanut butter in addition to syrup on their pancakes and waffles. Another puts peanut butter on their eggs. A peanut butter and onion sandwich was also proposed as a tasty treat.

No matter how you choose to enjoy peanut butter, it's not a bad thing to add to your diet. It's high in vitamin E, magnesium, vitamin B6, and selenium.

Cheddar Cheese and Apple Pie

Cheese and apple pie have been a pairing in America since the 1800s. But it's believed to have originated in England in the 17th century. Back then, apple pie wasn't as sweet as it is today since apples weren't sweet until the Red Delicious was created. The idea caught on and some people still enjoy it to this day.

Salt and Vinegar Chips With Chocolate Covered Raisins

Combining sweet and salty foods go together extremely well and there's a scientific reason for it. Salt brings out flavors more, so using salt on anything creates more depth of flavor—aka a more enjoyable tasting food.

Some receptors on sweet taste cells only activate when there's salt present. So eating sweet foods with a dash of salt might literally be unlocking flavors you couldn't taste otherwise.

The post is full of more unique combinations that people consider their "guilty pleasures." It's interesting to see how many foods people thought it was weird to enjoy when many others share the same sentiment.

What's one food combo you love that other people might find strange?
