The long wait is over for fully vaccinated Americans
Many Americans are rejoicing as Canada has announced that the borders will be opened to fully vaccinated Americans starting on August 9th, 2021. The long wait is over and international travel to Canada, from America, will finally be possible.
Non-essential travel into Canada has been banned since March 2020, something the Canadian government said was necessary to mitigate the spread of Covid-19.
According to the Washington Post, "To be eligible for entry, fully vaccinated U.S. citizens and permanent residents must be asymptomatic and present a negative coronavirus molecular test taken within 72 hours of flight departure or arrival at a land crossing. They will also be required to upload proof in English, French, or certified translation that they have received a full series of an authorized coronavirus vaccine at least 14 days before departure to the Canadian government’s ArriveCan app or website. They must also present an original copy."
International travelers may be able to begin entering Canada as soon as September 7, provided that the “COVID-19 epidemiology remains favorable,” the Canadian government said in statement released Monday.
Currently, international travel will remain unavailable to unvaccinated Americans and entry to Canada will continue to be prohibited for all foreign travelers who are not fully vaccinated.
Yet another reason to be fully vaccinated, Americans! You get to travel to beautiful Canada.
