Camping at Echo Lake Campground & Driving Mt. Evans Road

**ALERT: Starting September 7th, Mt. Evans (Hwy 5) will be open from mile 1 (Echo Lake) to mile 9 (Summit Lake), and closed for the season from mile 9 to mile 14. At that time, visitors can only visit these sites by motorized vehicle : Mt. Goliath Nature Center (mile 3) and Summit Lake Park (mile 9). Mt. Goliath and Summit Lake Park Ticket will be the only available ticket at the time until we close for the season.** Yes you must go to recreation.gov and get a Timed Entry Permit to drive or bike up Mt. Evans road while it is open still for the summer season. Also I don't think this reservation system is going away any time soon...I think it will be here every summer season for good.
