Mote Marine has had its history here in Florida since 1955. Originally opened in Placida, Florida. It had its headquarters in Sarasota since the 60's and officially opened the aquarium to the public in 1980. My husband and I haven't been here since elementary school on a field trip, so it was nice to bring our kids back and see the wonder and amazement in their eyes. We visited September 21, 2022, during the week. Which was a great time to go, it wasn't busy at all. I am sure on weekends and holidays and in the winter months they are much busier.
