Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park | Pine Mountain, Georgia | Georgia's Largest State Park

Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) built his little white house back in 1932, in Warm Springs, Georgia (Meriwether County). His love for the warm springs and the people of Georgia was very clear. He suffered from the effects of polio, which paralyzed his legs. He first started visiting Warm Springs back in 1924, to swim in the warm water to find a cure for his legs. The warm springs were not a cure, but they did bring him some improvement! 

While getting his portrait painted of himself while here in Warm Springs, he suffered from a major stroke, and sadly died 2 hours later. You can still see his unfinished portrait and the room and bed where he had passed away in.

This museum has been voted many times as America's #1 Best Free Museum and #1 Best History Museum. This video is a quick travel guide and information to visit this great museum! Like days of operations, hours, exhibits to see, places to eat and shop. We really enjoyed this museum, it's definitely a must see if you're in the area!

National Infantry Museum | Columbus, Georgia | Voted America's #1 Best FREE Museum

Florence Marina State Park is located in Omaha, Georgia (Stewart County). This 173-acre park has a $5 daily park fee. It may be small, but it unlocks the huge 45,000-acre Lake Walter F. Georga aka Lake Eufaula that is sits on. It has 66 boat slips for rent, along with 41 tent, trailer and rv campsites along with 15 cottages. We stayed in cottage number 9, see video for more info on that. This park is right on the Alabama state line so its super convenient for Alabamans and Georgians. (And Floridians like us, or anyone else traveling through) At only 14 minutes aways from Providence Canyon State Park, it was a great place to stay at with so much to do around! 

Florence Marina State Park | Georgia | Highlights, History, Cottage Tour and more!

Indian Springs State Park is located in Flovilla, Georgia (Butts County). This 765-acre state park is the oldest state park in Georgia along with Vogel State Park. It is also considered to be the oldest in the nation! This land was originally acquired by the U.S. and the state of Georgia back in the 1820's with a series of treaties between the Creek Nation. With a $5 entry fee, there is quite a lot to do. They have a lovely area Sandy Creek to wade in, with its flowing water over a series of rocks, they also have 2 hiking trails, mini golf, a playground, a 105-acre lake, an event center, campground and cottages. High Falls State Park is located in Jackson, Georgia (Butts County) this 1,050-acre park has a 650-acre lake: High Falls Lake, and beautiful tumbling waters along the Towaliga River. High Falls State Park | Jackson, Georgia | Travel Guide | Fishing Hiking Camping in Georgia

Hard Labor Creek State Park is located in Rutledge, Georgia (Morgan County). This park was once over worked farmland and in the 1930's the CCC came in and planted 850,000 trees and constructed 2 lakes and built bridges and roads. This was turned into a National Park in 1939 but then was turned over to the state in 1946 and became a state park. How cool is that history? This 5,804 acre park has so much to offer like: an 18-hole golf course, 24 miles of hiking and horseback riding trails, biking, birding, boating, paddling, fishing, mini-golf, swimming, geocaching, picnicking, camping and cottages. Its just a great place to get outside and be with your family or by yourself, but it's really a great place to have fun and relax.

Tumbling Waters Nature Trail is located in Ellijay, Georgia inside the Carters Lake Recreation Area. It has a $5 parking fee that is on an honor system BUT if you have an America the Beautiful pass, it is FREE to park! This trail is a 1 mile out and back trail, but as we were hiking, we notice other hiking trails that intersected with this one so you could make this trail longer if you choose too! On this trail you cross a 30-foot-tall wooden bridge that crosses over Tails Creek with awesome views of the cascades on this creek. There are other overlooks on this trail to view more cascades along the creek! We as a family of 4, really enjoyed this hike!

Tumbling Waters Nature Trail | Carters Lake Recreation Area | Ellijay, Georgia | North GA hiking

Fort Mountain State Park is located in Chatsworth, Georgia. (Murray County) This 4,058 acre park sits on the southwestern part of the Cohutta Mountains. (2,850 ft above sea level) There is so much to do here, like hike on their over 25 miles of hiking trails, bike over 27 miles of bike trails, they have horseback riding trails, fishing, geocaching, miniature golf, paddling, swimming and so much more. Not only do they have 70 campsites, but they have 15 cottages. We stayed in cottage number 1, and it had some amazing views from the back porch.

Fort Mountain State Park | Chatsworth, Georgia | Travel Guide and Information | Things to do there

Amicalola Falls State Park is located in Dawsonville, Georgia. (Dawson County) This state park is home to the 3rd highest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi River at 729 feet. Amicalola is a Cherokee Indian word for tumbling waters. Appropriately named. This park is also where a lot of the Appalachian Trail hikers start as it has the 8.5-mile approach trail to Springer Mountain. This park has so much to offer. A lodge with a restaurant, hiking trails, playground, picnic tables, ziplines, archery and so much more. This is a MUST see if your ever in the North Georgia area! 

Amicalola Falls State Park | Dawsonville, Georgia | Appalachian Trail Starts Here | Waterfalls

Not only do we love to travel in this family we love drag racing. My husband grew up around it, his dad use to drag race. He has watched it all his life. Ever since we have been together (23 yrs), I have gone to drag races with him and his family and now our kids love going to them. It's so fun to see our kids eyes light up when those engines roar and those vehicles go zooming down the track. This race took place last weekend March 3-5. It was a great warm up to the big national event taking place this weekend there, the Gatornationals. We hope you enjoy this quick glance into the race!

NHRA Division 2 Baby Gators Race | Gainesville, Florida

Mountain Crossings at Walasi-yi (Wa La See Yee) aka Neels Gap is located in Blairsville, Georgia. This building was built back in 1937 and sits directly on the Appalachian Trail AND it's the ONLY spot on the AT that you cross through a man-made structure! How cool is that? 
Having many purposes over the years, it has been Mountain Crossings since the 1980's. This is a hostel, a gift shop/re-supply store for hikers, a mail drop, a shuttle drop off and pick up spot and just a great spot to get on the AT for a day hike!
A quick 8-minute drive down the road is Desoto Falls Recreation Area. A great little picnic spot inside the Chattahoochee Oconee National Forest that has a trail to Desoto Falls. It has an upper and a lower falls. We only did the lower falls since our day was jam packed. It was a quick .25 of a mile hike to the lower falls. We went in the spring of 2022 and there were so many flowers starting to bloom, it was a great time to visit.

Mountain Crossings at Walasi-yi (Neels Gap) Blairsville, Ga INFO AND Desoto Falls | AT Trail

Minnehaha Falls is located in Lakemont, Georgia (Rabun County). The falls are located in the National Forest. You have to drive through a residential area to get to the trailhead parking area on Bear Gap Road, but if you put it in on your smartphone with google maps it will take you right there!
This trail is only .40-mile roundtrip. So, at only .20 you are at this amazing waterfall! While walking in this beautiful rhododendron forest you walk along Falls Branch, so you have awesome water sights and sounds along the way. 
Minnehaha Falls cascades about 100ft down. It is such a beautiful waterfall to see, and so easy to get to! Please like, share and follow for more videos, thank you!

Tallulah Gorge State Park is located in Tallulah Falls, Georgia (Rabun County). This 2,739-acre is best known for the Beautiful Gorge it protects. It's 2 miles long and almost 1,000 ft deep at its deepest point. This gorge has even been tight roped walked across twice. The most recent was in 1970 by Karl Wallenda (Nik Wallenda's Great Grandfather) This park has hiking, biking, waterfalls, swimming, rock climbing, camping, geocaching, white water rafting and so much more. A MUST SEE if your ever in the North Georgia area!
