Here are a few things that I am thinking about today on 6/6/23.

- The illiteracy rate within the USA is absolutely staggering. Right now, the statistics show that 21% of people cannot read. One out of five people cannot read this post. The illiteracy rate is so high due to a decrease of high-level teaching in schools because 66% of fourth-graders are not able to read proficiently. Do you see it all come together now - 66% on 6/6?

- That explains why so many tech experts consider that artificial intelligence (AI) is such a threat to society. The more and more people that cannot read means that rational thought becomes a commodity. Instead of thinking for ourselves, that void would be filled by AI.

- The new mnemonic device that I use as motivation to read now is "Read daily or end up like Daily Salinas." The Inauguration poem from 2021 was read over two years ago. That poem was forgotten by most Americans minutes after the poem was recited at the White House. Salinas had the poem banned even though she did not read the entire poem. Reading prevents humiliation and embarrassment. You will save yourself from future grief and regret.

- The time is now to keep oneself away from people that do not add any value to your life. Allowing negative people into your life will affect you negatively. Reading will keep you at an arm's length from the masses.

- The main advantage of reading every day is that your mind will extract knowledge that will be retained on a daily basis.
