Mardi Gras will be brought up north tomorrow with the 12th annual New Orleans North Festival. The New Orleans North Festival will take place in downtown Joliet on Friday, June 2nd from 5 PM to 11 PM CST. For the festival, Chicago Street will be blocked off between Jefferson Street (US Route 52) and Cass Street (US Route 30).
There will be three different parking garages available for you to park during the festival. Two parking garages are located on Cass Street and the other parking garage is located at Scott and Van Buren. Tickets for the festival are $10 in advance and $20 at the door.
The food court for the New Orleans North Festival will be absolutely phenomenal. The eight vendors scheduled to be in the food court are Moe Joe's Cajun & Caribbean Cuisine, Annabell's Bar B Q, Cemeno's Pizza, Popus Gourment Popcorn, La Joliet, Smokin' Z BBQ, Gigi's Sweets, and Joey's Redhots.
Four different stages will provide entertainment throughout the evening. A hookah alley will be set up next to the Abri Credit Union stage. Performing on that stage will be local group The Jib Brothers Band.
On the main stage, the main event will be Chicago cover band Maggie Speaks from 9:30 PM to 11 PM. The group has been performing nationally and internationally for over 20 years. The group pretty much covers every music genre from the '60's to the present.
Before the main event, the Joliet Pride Network will perform a drag show in honor of Pride Month.
