ShareFest and Will County will be holding a free food giveaway event on Saturday, May 27th from 9 AM CST to noon at the Will County Office Building in downtown Joliet. The Will County Office Building is located at 302 N. Chicago Street near the intersection of Chicago Street and Jackson Street.
Food boxes will be handed out until noon or until supplies last. The food will be handed out in the Will County Office Building parking lot in a drive-thru fashion. You do not have to register in order to receive groceries.
For people looking to attend, you will have to enter the Will County Office Building parking lot from the Scott Street entrance. For those who are driving to the food giveaway from out of town, realize that Scott Street is a one-way street that goes northbound. You will need to access Scott Street from Cass Street (US Route 30).
ShareFest is a non-profit organization that has been helping people throughout Will County for almost two decades. Here is a statement from ShareFest founder Gary Cheney.
"I invite anyone in need of assistance stop by on May 27 for free food and groceries. ShareFest has been making an impact in our community for over 16 years. I'm proud to be partnering with Will County to host an event in the heart of downtown Joliet."
Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant also gave a statement about the food giveaway event this Saturday.
"This event is open to anyone in need of fresh food. I am extremely thankful to the volunteers at ShareFest Will County who are working to provide nutritional food options to our families at no cost."
This free food giveaway is happening at the right time because we are one week away from the US debt ceiling deadline.
