The 16th Annual Illinois Product Farmers Market is taking place every Thursday until September 28. If you missed last week's grand opening, then you will not want to miss out tomorrow at the Shed at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. The Illinois State Fairgrounds is located at 801 E. Sangamon in the capital of Illinois. The market will be open from 3:30 PM until 7 PM.
This farmers market is great for those who like variety because there will be over twenty different vendors selling their wares tomorrow. You will be able to buy all kinds of fruits and vegetables along with baked goods, crafts, and fresh meat.
Every week, the Illinois Product Farmers Market will feature a winery and a food truck. This week's featured winery is West of Wise Winery located in Petersburg. Their wine has previously won Illinois State Fair competitions. They specialize in white wine, red wine, and sangria. Their prices are economical so that you will be able to buy a bottle at their booth within the range of twenty dollars and thirty dollars.
The featured food truck this week is Big Jake's BBQ Truck from Assumption. Along with selling slabs and half-slabs of ribs, one of their featured items on the menu is the Jake Fries. The Jake Fries are French fries loaded with pulled pork, cheese, BBQ sauce, and jalapenos.
There will also be entertainment at the Illinois Product Farmers Market this Thursday. The featured artist this week is Jason McKenzie. McKenzie was chosen as the Illinois Times Best of Springfield 2022 Male Vocalist of the Year. He covers different types of rock songs from the '70's, '80's, and '90's.
An added feature at this farmers market is LINK at the Market. Head over to the Illinois Department of Agriculture booth and they will match how much you spend on your Link card up to $25. This time is definitely a good time to double up and stock up on food since we are a week away from the debt ceiling deadline without a deal in sight.
