This past Saturday was Armed Forces Day. Armed Forces Day is a day in which we celebrate everyone that is currently serving in the US military.
The city of Tinley Park scheduled to have an Armed Forces Weekend Carnival near the train station at 80th Avenue this past Saturday and Sunday. However, the carnival was cancelled for the entire weekend after a flash mob of hundreds of teenagers set off a rampage in the parking lot.
During the melee, about 400 teenagers were wreaking havoc and disrupting the event. The carnival was then cancelled on Sunday because they planned to do the same thing again the very next day. The sad thing about these teenagers is that they premeditated these foul acts against the Chicago suburb.
After the brawl was over, five teenagers were arrested and one police officer was injured. The police in Tinley Park was not prepared to handle this massive scuffle. Normally, the most experience that Tinley Park police officers have in breaking up fights is dispersing crowds at Dendrino's.
Here is video proof of what happened Saturday evening at the Armed Forces Day Carnival.
As you can see from the video, the whole scene was out of control. You see the flash mob totally swarm the parking lot. You see people fighting with each other. You see carnival attendees running for safety. How are we supposed to celebrate the people serving in the military when so much disruption has taken place? This type of activity needs to stopped immediately or other events will be cancelled throughout the summer.
