The stakes are high this week in the Men's National Invitational Tournament (NIT) quarterfinals. The winners in these four games will qualify for the NIT Final Four next week at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. What happens in Vegas next week is the NIT Final Four.
Here is the look at the NIT quarterfinals schedule. All times listed are Eastern Standard Time (EST). Tuesday's games will be televised on ESPN, while Wednesday's games will be televised on ESPN2.
Tuesday, March 21
North Texas (28-7) vs Oklahoma State (20-15) - 7 PM.
North Texas has won both of their NIT games by double digits so far. Mean Green point guard Tylor Perry has been a problem for opposing defenses all season long. He has gone full Madea on teams so far in the NIT. Fortunately, he does not wear a dress like Tyler Perry.
Wisconsin (19-14) vs Oregon (21-14) - 9 PM.
Both teams have overcome injuries throughout the season by making runs in the NIT. Now, both teams are at full strength, which will make this game the best match-up in the NIT quarterfinals.
Wednesday, March 22
UAB (27-9) vs Vanderbilt (22-14) - 7 PM.
UAB has displayed a balance of inside and outside scoring throughout this tournament. The Blazers have won both of their NIT games so far by an average of 23 points. Vandy overcame a nine-point deficit in the second half to defeat Michigan on Saturday. Vandy's Memorial Coliseum is one of the best basketball courts in college basketball.
Cincinnati (23-12) vs Utah Valley (27-8) - 9 PM.
Cincinnati has two good wins over Virginia Tech and Hofstra so far in this tournament. However, they will have to deal with the high altitude at Utah Valley. Utah Valley has defeated New Mexico and Colorado by double digits. Utah Valley is coached by former NBA champion Mark Madsen.
