A Joliet tradition returns to the Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park this weekend with the 46th running of the play "Festival of the Gnomes" on Saturday, December 3rd and on Sunday, December 4th. In the play, you will see what the gnomes do around Christmastime.
On both days, the play will begin at 2 PM CST. However, you will want to get their early because the lobby will be open at 1 PM. You will be able to buy a gnome cap for $3. Then, you can have a free tassel sewn into your gnome cap for free. A new tassel is sewn into your gnome cap each and every year you choose to attend the Festival of the Gnomes.
Other items in the Gift Shop will be sold in the lobby area that you will be able to cherish during the holidays. Plus, cookies and hot cocoa will be sold along with soft drinks, wine, and beer so that you will be able to be refreshed before the play begins.
While you walk through the lobby, you will be able to listen to soothing music. On Saturday, live flute music will be happening. On Sunday, live guitar music will fill the lobby.
Tickets for the 46th Festival of the Gnomes are $5 apiece. The play lasts for about 90 minutes. Please make sure that you use the washroom before the play starts because there is no intermission.
After the Sunday show, there will be a drawing for a set of twin gnome dolls. The winner does not need to be present.
