The Northern Illinois Food Bank works with grocers and farmers throughout northern Illinois to distribute food throughout the area. The Food Bank collects food that would be otherwise thrown out on a weekly basis. Then, the food is evaluated and packaged into boxes that are then given to people throughout the community. Thousands of volunteers are giving back each week by helping out at one of the four distribution sites throughout the region.

The mobile food pantry will be set up in the parking lot so that people will be able to drive through and pick up a box. Nobody is banned from picking up a box. If you do not need the food, then you could pick up a food box for someone that you know that is in need. That small gesture would be a great thing for someone to do so that a family dealing with inflation will have a proper Thanksgiving with all of the fixings.

Over the past two years, overall hunger has gone up a whopping 21% throughout the country. We must continue to do our part so that no one in the area goes hungry.

St. Mary Immaculate Parish is located at 15629 S. Route 59 in Plainfield. Get there early because the line will be long.
