In case you missed the festivities over the weekend, the far-right conservative group known as the Proud Boys held a Kyle Rittenhouse Appreciation rally this past Saturday at Washington Square Park in Salt Lake City.
The event was also co-sponsored by the Utah Patriots, Liberty Fist, Concerned Utah Citizens, and United Citizens Alarm. The goal of this event was to show that they want to defend their towns in Utah in the same way Rittenhouse did during the Kenosha, WI protests during the summer of 2020. Rittenhouse was acquitted of all charges last month.
The appreciation rally lasted for two hours between noon and 2 PM MST. Although the weather was cold, the participants stayed warm with hot cocoa and apple cider provided on the premises by the Proud Boys.
About fifty to one hundred people showed up for the rally. One person was holding a sign that said, "Stand for 2A," which was in support of the Second Amendment. Another person was holding an American flag while another person was holding a "Don't Tread on Me" flag while wearing a Stars and Stripes long-sleeved shirt.
For the entire rally, a few of the participants took turns saying their prepared speeches into a megaphone so that everyone at Washington Square Park could hear what they were saying. Many others stood in Washington Square Park equipped with AR-15 shotguns. It looks like they made a statement that they were willing to shoot anyone that attempted to counter-protest this rally. Fortunately, nobody else cared to show up. Check out the video below for highlights of the rally.
