The final hurdle that is preventing the United States of America from opening up fully is that there are millions of Americans that have not taken the COVID-19 vaccine as of yet. Based upon the recent update, only 38.9 percent of all of the American people have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
Due to the lack of the people that have been fully vaccinated, different municipalities and companies have created different incentives to ensure that COVID-19 will never ravage this country ever again. For example, the state of West Virginia is offering $100 savings bonds to people between 18-35 that live in the state and have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
Jewel-Osco grocery stores are taking their incentive national with a new plan. If you take the vaccine at one of their on-site pharmacies, then you will receive 10% off of groceries throughout the entire country. How can you turn down free food? Unfortunately, this deal is not authorized in New York, New Jersey, and Arkansas. If you live close to a state line that is offering this deal, then you can drive over to the next state that is running this promo.
The reason why Jewel-Osco is running this program is so that the doses that they do have do not expire. This type of excess and waste is sort of a microcosm of America. There are so many countries in the world that do not even have access to the vaccine that really want to receive the vaccine, when the USA is throwing out vials of the coronavirus vaccine on a daily basis.
If you are looking to set up an appointment to take the vaccine so that you can receive a 10% discount on groceries, then check out their company website. If you are not able to set up an appointment, then all of their pharmacies are taking walk-ins. If you are willing to wait, then bring a book. Better yet, grab one of the magazines near the checkout aisles. That way, you are able to save another ten dollars along with the ten percent off of your groceries.
At this time, all customers are required to wear a mask or some sort of face covering while in the store. You should not obtain a health issue if you have to wear a mask for a few minutes. Surgeons wear masks when they do surgeries that last hours, and none of them have ever suddenly passed out due to lack of oxygen. Think of wearing a mask at the store as some sort of masquerade ball or a Halloween party.
If you schedule an appointment online, then you will receive an email from Jewel-Osco confirming the time of the appointment at whichever store you have picked. If you need to change the store location of the appointment or if you have an emergency, then you can cancel the appointment and reschedule.
More than likely, you will be receiving the Pfizer or the Moderna vaccine if you schedule an appointment. That means that you will have to schedule an appointment for the second dose three to four weeks after your first shot depending on which vaccine you receive. If you take the Pfizer vaccine, then you have to wait three weeks after your first shot. If you take the Moderna vaccine, then you have to wait four weeks. Jewel-Osco will automatically send you an email after your first shot to schedule the second shot.
After taking each shot, then you will have to wait about 15 minutes to make sure that you do not have any adverse reaction to the vaccine. The side effects are fever, chills, tiredness, headache, and swelling around the shoulder where the injection takes place. The way the vaccine affects someone is different for each person. Some people have no side effects after taking both shots. For me, I did not have any side effects after taking the first shot. After the second shot, I experienced chills, headache, and a fever for two days. I would advise to schedule a couple of days off after taking each shot because companies are supposed to pay you for those days off anyway for taking each shot. If the company in which you are currently employed is voluntarily skipping around this federal guideline, then you need to start sending out your resume in order to find another job.
After seeing this deal being advertised last week, I wish that I could have waited to take the vaccine because I could have taken advantage of this new deal.
