Exploring Northerly Island, once home to Meigs Field Airport in Downtown Chicago

Did you know that Chicago used to have its own airport right downtown? Northerly Island is not only the home to the Museum Campus, but it was once the home of Meigs Field Airport. The airport closed in 2003 and is now a park complete with bike paths and hiking trails along beautiful Lake Michigan. This is the place to be if you want incredible views of downtown. We visited on a beautiful day to take in the sights and the sounds. One of the best parts of this hidden gem is that it helps you escape the city without leaving it. #Chicago #hiddengems #hidden gems #hiddengem #hidden gem contest

Food and fun, that is what we love. And we love to find both of those things in our home city of Chicago, the Midwest, and beyond!
