North Texas Welcomes the Nation's First Glow-in-the-Dark Playground
North Texas is about to welcome an exciting and unique family attraction – the nation's first-ever glow-in-the-dark playground! Set to be named "Joya," which means "jewel" in Spanish, this 18,000-square-foot Texas playscape is being developed by the Farmers Branch Parks and Recreation Department. The playground will offer all the usual daytime fun that kids love, but what sets it apart is the mesmerizing glow-in-the-dark experience it will provide for evening playtime.
Located in Oran Good Park, near the intersection of Tom Field Road and Valley View Lane, Joya promises to be a shining gem among the already impressive array of parks in Farmers Branch. With its captivating LED lights and enchanting seating, the playground will offer an extraordinary play environment. The highlight of Joya will be a magnificent 27-foot climbing sphere, featuring six levels of climbing enclosed with a dense mesh. Alongside this, families can enjoy swings, slides, an obstacle course, zip lines, and a thrilling spin zone, all adorned with LED lights to create a magical glow after sunset.
The concept for Joya was thoughtfully designed based on insights gathered from focus groups with kids, ensuring that the playground caters to the real "fun experts." The development of this unique playground was made possible through federal and state grants, including funds from the Federal American Rescue Plan Act and the State of Texas Parks and Wildlife, as well as matching contributions from the city.
Joya will not only offer delightful playtime opportunities but also host various family-friendly events, cultural activities, and educational programs on designated days. Additionally, the park will feature a separate 7,000-square-foot toddler playground, complete with a natural sensory play area, catering to the needs of younger children.
As the fall season approaches, families in North Texas eagerly anticipate the grand opening of Joya, where kids and parents alike can immerse themselves in an unforgettable glow-in-the-dark experience. With the recent addition of the Peppa Pig Theme Park in North Richland Hills and Universal Studios' kid-friendly theme park in Frisco, Texas continues to solidify its reputation as a hub for unique and exciting family adventures.
In conclusion, Joya, the nation's first glow-in-the-dark playground in North Texas, is set to dazzle visitors with its enchanting LED-lit features, providing an extraordinary and unforgettable playtime experience. Families can look forward to exploring this crown jewel of Farmers Branch parks in the coming fall.
