A lady and her accomplices are wanted by police after a 24-year-old worker was repeatedly hit in the face at a supermarket in The Bronx.
At Food Universe on East 194th Street in the Fordham Manor neighborhood of the Bronx, it took place over the weekend. The store manager objected to being filmed but insisted that the incident's footage tells the whole tale. The cashier, who can be seen in the video wearing a white down vest, is surrounded by the women.
Even as the cashier's coworkers attempt to break up the altercation, she is continuously shoved and punched. The manager claims that the woman lost her cool after having to wait in line to have her returned bottles cashed in.
The Victim Is a Member of The Coalition For Grocery Businesses
Another worker attempted to calmly defuse the situation by requesting the suspect to stop before the other person turned around and started attacking her again. Later, shoppers intervened and made an effort to break up the fight.
The victim is a part of the coalition for grocery businesses, Collective Action to Defend Our Stores, which issued the following statement: "These people, many of whom are immigrants, are being attacked when stores are robbed, in addition to the rising figures on retail robberies.
We urge our city hall and Albany officials to take action to safeguard our employees, and businesses, and ensure that customers can shop in safety."
A $2,500 prize is now being offered by the Collective Action to Defend Our Shops in an effort to find the perpetrators.
