On Thursday morning, an accident at a project claimed the life of a Bronx construction worker, according to authorities.
An anonymous individual was struck and killed by a digger on December 15 at around 11:30 a.m., and authorities are looking into the dig site at 1861 Carter Ave. in Mount Hope.
As NYPD cops stopped construction, it was possible to see the worker's body laying next to a massive machine, draped in a white sheet coated in blood.
The worker was severely injured and died at the scene
According to sources within the Fire Department, the worker was injured, fell into cardiac arrest, and was declared dead at the scene. Police have not yet disclosed his identity, and the precise reason for his death is still under investigation.
On the site, construction workers were developing a new inexpensive apartment structure that will give those who have experienced homelessness and mental illness a roof over their heads. 163 units are expected to be housed at the property.
Additionally on the scene looking into the deceased was an official from the Department of Buildings.
The man was confirmed dead by emergency personnel and another injured man was taken to the hospital
He was confirmed dead at the site by emergency personnel, while another injured individual was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital.
The building under construction will provide 86 affordable housing units with on-site assistance for homeless New Yorkers.
The event is being looked into by the NYPD and the Department of Buildings.
