GOLDEN VALLEY, MN - How can you give your community back and have fun simultaneously? Run The Valley is a chance to do just that, coming up on September 11. Now is the time to join up to walk or run to make Golden Valley a better destination.
Every year, the Golden Valley Human Services Commission benefits from the proceeds of Run The Valley (GVHSC). The Commission then makes recommendations to the City Council on distributing the funds to organizations that assist Golden Valley citizens in need.
Northwest Suburban Dinner At Your Door is one of the GVHSC's partners. The program serves hot, nutritious meals to persons who are unable to cook for themselves. This service allows these residents to stay longer at home. The funds would help clients who cannot afford delivery and offset meal prices. The GVHSC gave Northwest Suburban Dinner At Your Door $5,500 in 2020.
The morning will begin at 7:45 a.m. with a 0.2K Kids Fun Run, starting and finishing at Brookview (316 Brookview Pkwy S). It will be beginning at 8:00 a.m., the 10K race will be followed by the 5K race, which will start at 8:10 a.m., and the 5K walk, which will begin at 8:15 a.m.
After September 10, the race fee is $40, and it is $45 on race day. Participants in the 5k walk can register for $25, while children participating in the 0.2k Fun Run can register for $5. Registration can be completed online, via mail, or in person at Brookview Medical Center & Hospital.
