SAINT PAUL, MN — Governor Tim Walz announced and launched the 'Cheers to the Vaccine' program, partnered with Craft Brewers Guild and the Minnesota Distillers Guild, to provide discounted or free beverages to vaccinated Minnesotan adults. Residents who are 21 and older who have got at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose will be able to purchase a free or discounted drink from May 28 to June 30 at participating establishments.

Governor Walz is proud to support this vaccination campaign and encouraged more Minnesotans to participate.

“Small businesses all over Minnesota have stepped up throughout the pandemic and I’m grateful so many breweries, wineries and distilleries are now going the extra mile to help keep our state safe and end this pandemic,” said Walz. “We’re doing this the Minnesota way—coming together to take care of each other while having a good time. Roll up your sleeves if you haven’t already, get back to your favorite spot and cheers to the vaccine!”

Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan expressed her gratitude and also weighed in for those who have not got their jab yet to get the vaccine as soon as possible.

“I’m grateful to the Minnesota breweries, wineries and distilleries that stepped up to encourage Minnesotans to get their shot,” said Flanagan. “If you haven’t gotten your vaccine yet, this is the perfect weekend to do so. Get your shot to summer and enjoy a cold beverage with friends or family.”

The Executive Director of the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild, Lauren McGinty supported the governor's program and talked about the local business communities that have been struggling since the beginning of the pandemic.

"Minnesota breweries are excited to get customers back in their taprooms, but they also want to continue to be safe. This program is a great way to promote safety and support local small businesses that have been hit especially hard during the pandemic," said McGinty.
