Anna and Calum flew to Mexico for their big wedding. The guests, bridesmaids, and others would only be joining them after a few days, so the couple focused on the wedding preparations. Lately, Calum had been acting distant, which he claims to be because of work, and he was slowly becoming himself during the trip.

But after everyone else arrived, Calum started to bail out from dinners and reached his room only in the early hours. He started using the work excuse again, and Anna’s intuitions were telling her something was wrong.

Then one day, he revealed he was doubts regarding whether he was ready for the wedding. Although heartbroken, Anna held her emotions in and asked him to make a decision quickly. The next day, he had a change of heart and said he wanted to go forward with the wedding.

Finally, it was their wedding day, and everything was going as per their plan. The decorations were perfect, the cake was impeccable, and Anna was over the moon. While she was getting her hair done, someone knocked at the door. It was Calum’s dad.

“I’m sorry. Calum isn’t coming,” he said, disappointed.
"He can’t do this. Not on our wedding day," saying this, Anna started to sob. Calum showed up an hour later, saying, “I CAN’T marry you today.” Anna shut the door in his face and shouted she would never be marrying him.

Lisa, one of the bridesmaids, comforted Anna and booked her flight back. Anna’s brother sat near her when Lisa was out of eyesight. He felt something fishy was going on between Calum and Lisa. Soon, her maid of honor joined and shared she had the same suspicions.

Anna then recollected finding someone's knickers in their bathroom and Calum’s excitement to include Lisa in the wedding party. She felt stupid to have ignored the signs and not connected the dots. Anyway, she was putting her relationship with Calum behind her. During the flight back, she replied to Calum only when he spoke about Ellis, their son. She asked him to pack his things and leave when they reached.

After a few weeks, she heard her friends spotting Lisa and Calum together, confirming the rumors. After a month, she saw Calum’s photograph on the front page of a newspaper, saying he was involved in illegal substance trafficking and had been jailed for nine years.

Anna realized that she didn’t know the man she had been with for years. Anyway, she thanked the gods for not letting her marry Calum.
