A woman’s body changes drastically to grow a life, and not always in the way you might expect. Sometimes these changes demotivate mothers and make them feel less beautiful.
Laura Mazza, a social worker, writer, and mom of three, wrote about a talk she had with her husband about her body and related insecurities. In the beginning, her body was toned, had muscles, and came without stretch marks. That body could wear any size of jeans and look hot, while now it mainly adorns leggings. Her husband’s body stayed the same, but her’s changed in every way.
Mazza exclaimed to her husband, “This isn’t the body you fell in love with.
And her husband’s reply changed the way she viewed herself.
“You’re right. This isn’t the body I fell in love with. A body that grew our children, fed our children, comforted our children, and made life. I fall in love with that body every day. In fact, I realized what love was only after I saw this body and found out all it could do, so thank you.”
She wrote about this conversation on Facebook but deleted the post later. The post touched the hearts of many mothers who’re all battling with some kind of body insecurities and issues. Her post is about body neutrality, a concept that one doesn’t have to love their body but accept it. It says one’s happiness and beauty aren’t connected to appearance.
Share this beautiful story with other mothers to encourage positive views of their bodies and live happily, irrespective of their appearance. Also, let others know your thoughts about body changes after pregnancy.
