Father issues a plea for help to finally bring his daughter home
Vivian Trout has been missing for 25 years, but her father, John Trout, has never stopped looking for her and he says he never will.
Vivian was only two years old when she was abducted by her non-custodial parent, Marina Trout. On April 6, 1997, Vivian’s father took to the apartment Marina shared with her mother in Miami Beach, Florida, for a scheduled visit. He left, thinking she’d still be there when he returned for her a few hours later.
Within minutes of the child’s arrival, Marina Trout locked the visit supervisor assigned to her case in the bathroom and left with Vivian. John Trout returned to find the place in chaos with police cars everywhere. That’s when he learned his daughter had been taken. A felony warrant for kidnapping was issued for Marina immediately but she was somehow already gone without a trace.
It wasn’t the first time Vivian’s mother had taken her without permission. She had vanished with the child two years earlier when Vivian was only a baby. it didn’t take long to locate the infant and return her to her father. He was given sole custody of 9-month-old Vivian later that same year. Only supervised visitation was allowed to Marina due to her delicate mental health, though the nature of her condition is unspecified.
Police believe that Marina fled Florida and traveled out of the country, perhaps to Guadalajara, Spain, Costa Rica, Spain, or South America. She has many ties to different Hispanic communities. If Marina is still alive today, she would be 68 years old. Vivian is 27 years old.
John Trout has continued to look for Vivian all these years later, but her whereabouts remain a mystery. He traveled to all of the cities where he thought he might find her in the months and years after she disappeared without any success. There is no reason to suspect Vivian is deceased, but she may not be aware that she was abducted since she was so small when it happened. John believes that this information getting to her will finally bring her back home to him.
John has recently issued another public plea for help in locating his missing daughter and a message for her.
“If there’s even a thought, that your next-door neighbor, or a coworker, or your babysitter is Vivian Trout, please contact your local police department. It doesn’t matter where you are, just please, take that easy step and make the call...Vivian, you don’t know how much I love you and how much I’ve missed you over all these years.” - John Trout
A new age-progressed photo created by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) shows how Vivian might look today. She will be 28 years old in a few months.
