Wawa, a convenience store chain that originated in New Jersey and later Pennsylvania, has announced that they will open multiple locations in our area. Slated for opening dates in 2024, the announcement included four locations in Baldwin County, two in Mobile, and two in Pensacola.
These eight locations will be in addition to the already massive amount of stores under the Wawa blanket, totaling over 950. These locations can be found in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Florida and Washington, D.C.
Wawa began as an iron foundry over 200 years ago. Despite a few changes throughout years, including a dairy processing plant in Wawa, Pennsylvania, the company eventually found its footing as a food market in 1964. To give customers a one shop shopping experience, Wawa added gasoline to its inventory in 1996. Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, Wawa will be in good company in Baldwin County with other big name convenience stores like Buc-ee’s and Love’s Travel Stop.
With freshly prepared breakfast sandwiches, hoagies, burgers, chicken and pizza, food options are plenty at Wawa. Freshly brewed coffee, an assortment of snacks, sides, and soups, and excellent customer service round out its offerings. Wawa currently employs over 35,000 associates.
