Hood River Valley Harvest Fest

In October, Hood River Valley Harvest Fest highlights all the amazing fruit that comes in the fall. Local farms and orchards bring their best. Check out the arts and crafts, music and food to make it a fun filled day for the family!

Near Portland this isn't a festival with specific dates but a business with an amazing maze, events and fall fun.

Mt. Angel Oktoberfest

While just a couple days before it is officially fall, Oktoberfest was traditionally during the fall. This is a very popular Oktoberfest so you need to get tickets as soon as they come out, especially if you want to camp.

Sisters Folk Festival

If you love folk music, this is the festival for you. They have 7 stages of music, so there is always something to choose from. They also have a raffle and auction and some workshops led by the artists themselves. With 33+ unique artists participating you will find something that will peak your interest. At the end of September it is the perfect festival to ring in the season.

Half Marathon

I know this isn't a festival, but it is a group of people getting together to run and enjoy the fall colors. So, if running is your thing then definitely check out Oregon's best half marathon to enjoy the fall foliage: The Columbia Gorge Marathon and Half Marathon.

We do a lot of research about the area we are traveling to. Specifically for free camping and where the best places to do it. Most of the time we like being off the beaten path, where no one is, but sometimes it is just easier and depending on the situation, more convenient to park in a designated area. In Oregon, one of the many SnoParks is a great option throughout the year. Rules vary depending on if you are within the November 1-April 30 (winter) or May 1-October 31 (summer). Just check the local national forest for that the SnoPark. Some of them may not allow it, but there are not that many.

New Beautiful Free Camping Spots

This year was full of amazing camping...amazing free camping. All of our favorite spots this year were new to us! We even boondocked in another country. It was Canada, but still, it felt pretty amazing to be able to explore the area while camping for free. Especially since Canada is full of some of the most beautiful places on earth.
