Finding activities to bring your dog with in Oregon is not hard to do. With very few places that they are not allowed, it is one of the most dog friendly states in the US. Most of the activities are outside, but that is what this great state is about. Enjoying the outdoors in all four seasons and I doubt that your pup will complain!
The Best Dog Friendly Activities in Oregon
Stand Up Paddle Board
This is a gamble, because some dogs just don't get what they are supposed to do on a paddle board, but trade the SUP in for a kayak or canoe, or just let them play fetch into the water. There are so many lakes and rivers in Oregon that you can find a smooth surface to try it out with your pup.
The Oregon Coast
The Oregon Coast is probably the most pet friendly coast. Unlike in California where there are only a few specific areas that they are allowed. In Oregon the entire coast is 363 of public accessible beach. There are very few places that dogs are not allowed. Otherwise, take your dog on the best beach dog walk they have been on. There are a few beaches that you have to walk down and then it is a private small beach. We have let ours run to their heart's content when there have been no other people or dogs around. Just seagulls!
Hiking
With thousands of hiking trails, you are bound to find one that fit your and your dog's skill. During the summer the majority are leashed trails, but in the winter, it is off leash in most national forests and national wilderness areas. It is getting to some of them that is the problem. But from every corner of the state to the middle, there are dog friendly hikes from 1 mile to endless possibilities.
Camping
Camping in Oregon is one of my favorite things to do. With a lot of public land and BLM land, it provides some of the most beautiful places to stay. There are also many campgrounds to choose from. Stay on the coast with a beach view, in the middle of the forest along a river, to camping for free in the desert or with mountain views and close to a hiking or mountain biking trail. There are places that you can camp for free in Central Oregon that you are within 20 yards of some of the best mountain biking trails in the state.
Brewery Hop
If the state is dog friendly, you better believe that most breweries are dog friendly. With patios to roam around and meet other furry friends while the humans grab a bite to eat and a local brew, it is one of the best activities out there. Throughout the state, here are some of our favorite: Pelican Brewery, Ferment Brewery, Goodlife Brewery and Yachats Brewery.
If you are driving through Bend, Oregon, most of the gas stations and banks also have dog biscuits!
