Digging for Diamonds in Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas
It seems like such an odd thing to come up and when we drove by it, we definitely stopped. Who doesn't want to search for diamonds?!
They have everything you need to start your search. Rent some shovels, buckets, etc., pay the small fee and then it's time to dig! Make your way through the multiple areas and then find your spot. Some people take this quite seriously and bring tents, coolers, chairs, etc. You can stay the entire day during their open hours.
Remember this is a FINDERS KEEPERS! Whatever you find, you get! We mostly found a lot of random little gems so we left them for someone else that might be interested in keeping them. We stayed for a couple hours and actually had a ton of fun looking around.
Fun fact: If a diamond is heated to a temperature of 1405 degrees Fahrenheit it will vanish and nothing will remain. Not even ash!
